Xenon Hexafluoride Ionic Or Covalent
Xenon hexafluoride (XeF6) is a covalent compound. It consists of one xenon atom and six fluorine atoms, which are bonded through covalent bonds formed by the sharing of electrons. The electronegativity difference between xenon (2.6) and fluorine (3.98) is not large enough to form ionic bonds, which would require a much larger electronegativity difference. Additionally, XeF6 has a molecular structure consisting of discrete molecules, further indicating its covalent nature.
